The Beginning...

It's a long journey to what we Christians call 'the Promised Land'. It is not a journey to a final destination, rather a journey back to the beginning. Back to where God would want to place us - in him. Back to what God made us - pure and holy. Back to why God made us - to be with him.

This thought has been heavily loaned from JPII, in case you find the - "to the beginning" phrase familiar. But I was taken up by what our previous Pope had to say in one of his "theological time bomb" teachings.

God alone is Holy, God alone is Perfect (Lev 11:45, Duet 32:4) and thanks be to Jesus, who transforms us from being slaves to sin and death (2 Pet 2:19) to being friends (Jn 15:15) to being Children of God (Rom 8:14), we have Hope to reach this perfection that we are called to achieve (Mt 5:48).

And the Journey is this - the struggle to reach this Perfection, the struggle to collaborate with the Spirit in our daily lives. Each of us are making this journey at some pace or the other.

Even though I began by saying that the journey is a long one, the hope is that the distance is not too much. For He made us a little lower than the angels, giving us authority to rule over His creations (Ps8:5-7) and with Jesus we can do all things (Phil 4:13). We are all called to be saints. We are not there yet, but most certainly on the way to becoming one.

So join me, struggling saints, and walk with me as I share the experiences of my journey. Feel free to talk about/share what you are going through. And let's go together to our Promised Land.
